solunar: solunar table generation

solunar: version 0.0.5 released [27-Feb-2008]

Version 0.0.5 has been released. This release includes an improved moon phase calculation.

solunar: version 0.0.4 released [07-Jan-2008]

Version 0.0.4 has been released. This release fixed the bugs that were reported for version 0.0.3.

solunar: third release [28-Dec-2007]

The third "working prototype" has been released.

Previous releases have required the libnova libraries for the astronomical data. Now we are performing our own astronomical calculations.

This will be the final "working prototype" release. This release is intended for linux, however I have compiled the source on a windows machine without any problems.

A future release for windows is planned and a php version is in the works and will be released in a few days.

The user will input the following values:

  • Date
  • Latitude
  • Longitude
  • Time zone

and the program will compute the following:

  • Moon Phase
  • Moon Rise
  • Moon Transit
  • Moon Set
  • Sun Rise
  • Sun Transit
  • Sun Set
  • Major Solunar Periods
  • Minor Solunar Periods
  • Daily Action Prediction

Second file release. [26-Nov-2007]

The second release of a working prototype is now available for download. In this release I have added moon phase reporting and a daily action prediction scale.

The project is also in the planning stages for a windows version and a web version as well.

First file release. [15-Nov-2007]

A working prototype has been released and is now available for download.

This release consists of a c source file. It is a snapshot of where the project stands as of today.

I have started coding...its going slow. [06-Oct-2007]

I have started on a prototype. The prototype will take a set of lat and lon coordinates and a date for input and output sunrise, sunset, moonrise and moonset. I am expecting an accuracy of one minute. It turns out astrological algorithms are more complicated then I originally envisioned, but not impossible.

Between work and family I will have about an hour or two every couple of days to work on the project, so it will be a few weeks before I expect to upload the prototype. If it is going to take any longer I will ask for help.
